MEDICAL TRANSPORT ISN’T JUST A SERVICE TO US, IT’S PERSONAL.
February 2001: Our founder and CEO, RJ LaSasso, was enjoying a beautiful day in Florence, Italy. At 20, he was traveling around Europe, trying to learn Italian, enjoying sightseeing, and taking in all the wonders Florence has to offer. As RJ was parking his bike on a sunny afternoon, he was struck and run over by a city bus. When he came to, he was writhing in pain and trying to speak to the bystanders with what little energy he had in him.
RJ did not have a family with him and was taken to an Italian hospital. After diagnostics, he had many broken bones in his left leg, as well as other areas. He was unable to leave the country because finding competent medical transport was next to impossible. The doctors told RJ that his leg would have to heal to a certain extent and then re-broken if they couldn’t move him quickly enough.
Going through this very traumatizing event inspired RJ. He realized he wanted to provide medical assistance and transportation to anyone who experienced injury far from home. He envisioned a way to get home to the comfort of family and medical facility of their choice for care.
